My first job (high school, of course) was planting small pine seedlings along hillsides in north Alabama, for Cobb Coal Company. It amazes me that how something so tiny and insignificant as a pine seedling can grow to become part of something much bigger than itself. Each tiny tree when planted together became part of a magnificent pine forest. I planted hundreds of trees that year, one at a time. God did the rest. Those trees today are fully mature and a source of pleasure to many.
Pine trees are unique in one key aspect: they remain green throughout the year. That makes a great metaphor for consistent service, doesn’t it?
